The event format

Design Matters brings on stage a global and interdisciplinary network of experts to discuss design and dive into design practices from a variety of perspectives and disciplines. The event aims at defining and leading the agenda on the most important issues concerning UX/UI, innovation, tech, DEI, and sustainability.

The conference will be held in-person and live-streamed. All the talks, which will be the same for the in-person and online audience, will be recorded and uploaded on the video platform Design Matters +. The workshops, which will be different for the in-person and online audiences, will not be recorded due to their interactive nature.

The talks and workshops of the event will revolve around three themes, or macro topics, which are defined by a Committee of international designers and former Design Matters speakers. The themes will be announced by June 2023, so stay tuned!

HOW IT WORKS

No matter if you are attending in-person or online, you will receive a link to watch the conference online and access to Design Matters +, the archive containing all the talks, interviews, and performances from all previous Design Matters events - for a total of 300+ videos.

The talks are live-streamed on the video platform Design Matters +, which you are given access to via email a couple of days before the conference. The talks are uploaded onto Design Matters + a few days after the event, so that you can watch and rewatch what you missed or loved, and you also get to see all the videos from the previous years. On the platform, you can also find the presentation slides of each talk.

You have access to the Design Matters + for free for one year. After that, you can decide whether to renew the subscription and stay on the platform or let the subscription expire.

Design Matters is a two-day conference full of talks, workshops, networking activities, and evening performances

THE PROGRAM

The event kicks off typically at 9 am, but the doors are open from 8 am. Coffee breaks and lunch will be provided at the venue on both days of the conference.

Part of the program are the Nerd Tracks. A Nerd Track consists of either 2 or 3 talks taking place one after the other OR a workshop. If you want to attend a workshop, you have to sign up for it. You will receive an email a few days before the conference, where you will be able to sign up for the workshops you want to attend. If you do not sign up for any workshop, your Nerd Track will automatically consist of the Nerd Talks.
